State-of-the-Art Outdoor Fitness Court® Studio Coming to Town of Herkimer

(HERKIMER, NY – July 3, 2024) – MVP Health Care, Town of Herkimer and National Fitness Campaign (NFC) today announced a partnership to bring an outdoor Fitness Court® Studio to the Town of Herkimer. The Fitness Court Studio, located at 154 Pine Grove Road, will open on Saturday, July 13 at 10:00am with Fitness Court demonstrations, a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:00am and a friendly competition between area police and firefighters taking place at 11:30am. The MVP Health Care Fitness Court Studio will provide the community with increased access to outdoor exercise programs.
This new Fitness Court Studio was developed by MVP Health Care, Town of Herkimer and NFC to expand free access to high quality workouts and create equitable access to exercise for communities around the state. The Fitness Court Studio features two workout areas separated by a mural wall featuring scenic photography of the Town of Herkimer to showcase the setting and to inspire people as they enjoy the benefits and energy created by a great outdoor workout. The Fitness Court Studio delivers the powerful seven minute full body workout on one side and a versatile outdoor class area for enjoying yoga, Zumba, pilates and other popular group wellness activities on the opposite side.
Created with people aged 14 and over and with all abilities in mind, the workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users also may download the free Fitness Court App which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience.

The Town of Herkimer Town Park, located in Herkimer County, is one of 27 outdoor Fitness Courts in a series of MVP Health Care Fitness Courts, joining the growing network across the state.

About Town of Herkimer
The Town of Herkimer is located in Herkimer County, NY was formed in 1788 and consists of 32.2 square miles, including the 2.8 square miles defining the corporate limits of the Village of Herkimer. The 2020 Census demonstrates 9,566 people reside in the Town of which 7,234 reside within the Village. Other population centers in the Town include the hamlets of East Herkimer and Kast Bridge and the Petrie Development.
New York State Routes 5 and 28 are the major thoroughfares through the town with Route 5 running east and west and Route 28 running north and south. The Town is located off of Exit 30 of the New York State Thruway.
The West Canada Creek flows south through the eastern section of the Town while the Mohawk River and the Erie Canal flows easterly through the southern section of the Town.
