CHICAGO — Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) has expanded its partnership with National Fitness Campaign to bring Fitness Courts® and wellness programming to communities in Montana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
Since HCSC became the lead sponsor of the National Fitness Campaign in both Illinois and Texas in 2022 HCSC has contributed more than $1 million to development of over 35 Fitness Courts. HCSC has committed $1.2 million in additional funding to help build as many as 45 Fitness Courts across Montana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
“HCSC is excited to expand the reach of Fitness Courts in Montana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Bringing access to free and accessible outdoor physical activity aligns with our goal of improving the health and wellness of our members and the communities in which we serve,” said Stephania Grober, HCSC president of Oklahoma Division and Western Markets. “Expanding this partnership reflects the commitment HCSC has on addressing social determinants of health, and ensuring all individuals have the opportunity to achieve optimal health.”
The outdoor Fitness Court lets people use their own body weight to get a complete workout using seven exercise stations. Created with people aged 14 and older and with all abilities in mind, the workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users may also download the free Fitness Court App, which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience.
“National Fitness Campaign is proud to extend our partnership with HCSC after seeing the successful growth of the campaign as the state sponsor in both Illinois and Texas,” said Mitch Menaged, founder of National Fitness Campaign. “We’re excited about the wellness culture that HCSC is building with hundreds of communities and campuses across their five-state plans and their commitment to combat the costs of inactivity and get people moving outdoors with free, accessible wellness programming.”
Municipalities, schools and other organizations in Montana, New Mexico and Oklahoma can apply for grants through NFC to assist in constructing a Fitness Court®. NFC works with grant recipients to assist in planning, funding and launching their Fitness Court®. Grant applications are being accepted.
