TERI Campus of Life: Empowering Health and Inclusion

First Special Needs Focused Partner Joins the Campaign

February 2, 2024

TERI’s (Training, Education, and Resource Institute) mission is to change the way the world sees, helps, and empowers individuals with special needs. Through support, advocacy, dedication, innovation, and resolve, TERI has brought opportunity and hope to countless individuals and families. When CEO Cheryl Kilmer heard about National Fitness Campaign, she knew this was the partnership she was looking for to provide accessible fitness opportunities at TERI. The Fitness Court® is fully ADA accessible and works for every body, regardless of fitness level or ability.

One of TERI’s guiding principles is “Fit for Life” and the Fitness Court® created another opportunity for individuals of all abilities to get outside and have fun while working on their health and wellness. The Fitness Court® also gives everyone an opportunity to promote education and inclusion for those with special needs in the community.

When Cheryl was asked what it meant to be the first official special needs focused partner to join National Fitness Campaign, she replied:

“We are used to being the first at many things! This means that we are the just first to create an opportunity for the public to join our amazing folks and work together on health and wellness, but we know there will be more to come!”

Since the official launch in June 2023 at the Fit For Life Festival, TERI has launched Functional Fitness classes which are open to the greater San Marcos Community. The Functional Fitness classes will be led by TERI's Adaptive Fitness Lead Instructor, Leo Marin, who specializes in empowering individuals of all abilities to achieve their health and wellness goals.
